Tariff + Pricing Update
Despite crossing our fingers, we have received a sudden and stark 21% average price increase on all of our green coffee in August due to tariff implementation. Specifically, our Colombian single-origin took the lead at 30% while both Ethiopian varietals rose 27%. As a result, we will need to raise our prices.
Despite those stark increases, we will not increase our prices by that 21% average price increase. At the risk of sounding redundant, times are clearly difficult for both consumers and businesses alike. As much as possible, we do not want to price ourselves out from the average customer interested in both organic and specialty coffee; if anything, we would like to reward them for continuing to choose a higher quality and sustainable option. We are committed to the product we serve and want to cause as little disruption to the process that starts with the farmer and ends with the beverage. If that means we take a loss in the process, we believe that it is our best chance to weather this proverbial storm. Additionally, if overall costs do come down in the future, we have every intention to lower our prices.
We plan to implement price increases starting on Monday, September 1st. Please let us know if you have any questions and we would be more than happy to answer.
